Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced that the government will not pursue unilateral legislation for the establishment of the Digital Media Authority, opting instead for a consultative approach with journalist organizations and press clubs.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting with the National Press Club Islamabad delegation, Minister Tarar emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the decision-making process regarding the new authority. He also announced upcoming initiatives, including a health insurance scheme for journalists and measures for the construction of a new building and improvement of the existing facilities for the National Press Club.

The Minister assured the delegation of an annual grant to support the club’s activities. The delegation discussed the challenges faced by the journalist community, seeking government intervention for sustainable solutions.
