Islamabad, In a coordinated effort to voice support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJK) in their quest for self-determination, Pakistan’s diplomatic missions around the world observed Kashmir Solidarity Day on Monday. The day was marked by a series of events across various countries, aiming to draw international attention to the long-standing issue and the alleged human rights violations in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the observance included a diverse array of activities, from seminars and photo exhibitions to the screening of documentaries. In Abu Dhabi, the Embassy of Pakistan hosted an event attended by members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities in the United Arab Emirates. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi paid homage to the determination of the Kashmiri people and criticized India’s actions in the region. Similar sentiments were echoed in events held in Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Dhaka, Colombo, Melbourne, New Zealand, Azerbaijan, Spain, Iran, Nepal, and Japan, with each location tailoring its observance to highlight the plight of the Kashmiris and Pakistan’s support for their cause.
The events globally shared a common theme of solidarity with the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination, as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions. High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof in Dhaka reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for the Kashmiri cause on all fronts. Meanwhile, in Colombo, visual displays and digital videos were used to showcase the alleged human rights violations by Indian forces in IIOJK.
In Melbourne, the Consulate General’s event featured cultural expressions of support for Kashmir, including poems and speeches, emphasizing the international community’s role in addressing the dispute in accordance with UN resolutions. The Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran focused on the reported brutalities in Kashmir, calling for the implementation of UN resolutions to resolve the conflict.
These observances underscore Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to keep the Kashmir issue on the international agenda, advocating for a peaceful resolution in line with the wishes of the Kashmiri people and relevant international legal frameworks.
