Pakistan’s Fuel Stocks Remain Stable Amid Ongoing Import Diversification Efforts

Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on petrol prices, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, assessed the nation’s fuel inventory and supply chain. The committee was informed that the country’s fuel requirements for March are secured, with coverage plans extending into April. This meeting is part of the committee’s daily review of the energy sector due to changing regional conditions.

According to Ministry of Finance, the meeting included Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and other senior officials. The committee reviewed procurement patterns and emphasized diversifying import sources to enhance the energy supply chain’s resilience. Efforts to source fuel from a broader international market are underway to reduce reliance on any single supply corridor.

The Finance Minister stressed the government’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted fuel availability and stated that current stock levels negate any need for panic buying. Relevant authorities, in coordination with OGRA and provincial governments, were tasked to monitor stock levels and prevent hoarding. The committee will continue daily meetings to ensure a stable fuel supply chain across the country.
