Pakistan’s Foreign Office Denies Resumption of Bilateral Trade Talks with India

Islamabad: The Foreign Office of Pakistan has officially stated that there are no ongoing discussions with India regarding the resumption of bilateral trade. This announcement was made during a weekly news briefing by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, who highlighted that the suspension of trade ties, initiated following India’s 2019 actions in Jammu and Kashmir, remains unchanged.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Spokesperson Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the non-resumption of trade and condemned recent violent acts in the Doda district by Indian forces, which resulted in the deaths of four Kashmiri youths. She described these actions as part of a continued pattern of oppression in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

During the briefing, Baloch also addressed various geopolitical issues affecting Pakistan. She categorically denied any involvement of Pakistan in political developments in Bangladesh and emphasized that the Bangladeshi people are fully capable of determining their own future.

On regional security matters, the spokesperson expressed regret over recent cross-border hostilities at the Torkham border with Afghanistan, urging Afghan authorities to maintain restraint and handle disputes through diplomatic channels. Additionally, she called for decisive actions against terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan to prevent further escalations.

Baloch also voiced strong criticism of recent disturbances at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, urging the international community and the UN Security Council to protect the site’s sanctity and ensure the religious freedoms of the Palestinian people.
