Pakistan’s Finance Ministry Engages with Port Qasim Electric Power Company to Address Energy Sector Challenges


Islamabad: In a critical meeting aimed at addressing challenges in Pakistan’s energy sector, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, alongside Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, convened with executives from Port Qasim Electric Power Company (PQEPC), led by CEO Mr. Liang.



According to Press Information Department, the PQEPC delegation presented an overview of the company’s operations and discussed outstanding issues related to overdue receivables that impact their operations. As a significant player in Pakistan’s energy market, PowerChina, the parent company of PQEPC, reiterated its commitment to supporting the government in enhancing the power sector’s efficiency and reliability.



The ministers acknowledged the substantial contributions of PQEPC and other Chinese firms to the development of Pakistan’s power infrastructure. They expressed the government’s commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders to address the ongoing challenges in the power sector. The meeting concluded with PQEPC expressing appreciation for the government’s support and affirming their readiness to assist in resolving sectoral issues to ensure energy stability and economic growth in Pakistan.
