Pakistan’s Federal Cabinet Approves Armed Forces Deployment for Election Security

Islamabad, In a crucial move to ensure peace and security during the upcoming general elections, the Federal Cabinet has authorized the deployment of Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces’ personnel.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the decision, made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar in Islamabad, followed a recommendation from the Ministry of Interior. The security forces will be responsible for maintaining order in sensitive areas and polling stations, and will act as a rapid response force in case of any disturbances.

The Prime Minister commended Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar for her efforts in increasing tax revenue, improving the tax-GDP ratio, and proposing comprehensive reforms for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He reaffirmed the caretaker government’s support for these proposed FBR reforms.

An inter-ministerial committee, to be overseen by the Finance Minister and based on the cabinet members’ opinions, has been directed for establishment to address FBR reforms. Additionally, the cabinet approved the formation of a search committee for appointing the vice chancellor of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad, following a recommendation from the Ministry of National Health.

The cabinet also endorsed decisions from the Economic Coordination Committee’s meeting held on the 9th of this month.
