Islamabad: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, participated in a panel session titled “Dialogue, Not Discord: Conflict Resolution, Diplomacy, and the Rule of Law in U.S.-Pakistan Relations” at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS). Dr. Malik emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding in diplomacy, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to peace and responsible engagement in global affairs.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, the event brought together diplomats, policy experts, and senior officials to discuss principled engagement in resolving global and regional conflicts. Dr. Malik addressed recent India-Pakistan tensions, noting that Pakistan has been a victim of one-sided aggression. He mentioned that while Pakistan had the right to respond to India’s attacks on civilian areas, it exercised restraint by targeting only military sites.

Dr. Malik criticized India’s actions, comparing them to the Israeli doctrine of offensive defense, and pointed out that such strategic aggression is evident in various global conflicts. He also addressed questions about Pakistan’s nuclear posture, reiterating the country’s readiness to respond to aggression through conventional means, without unnecessary escalation.

The Minister underscored that peace remains Pakistan’s top priority and emphasized the need for conflict resolution through dialogue, respect for international law, and non-aggression. He warned that failing to uphold international principles could lead to global instability and lawlessness.

Dr. Malik also highlighted the climate crisis as a universal challenge, stressing that issues like climate change are not confined by geography. He called for a global consensus on political and environmental norms, emphasizing the importance of collective international efforts to maintain peace, stability, and planetary survival.

The panel session underscored Pakistan’s role as a responsible nation advocating for diplomacy, justice, climate action, and long-term regional and global stability.
