Pakistan’s Diplomatic Efforts Highlighted by Senator in UK Visit

LONDON: Pakistan is actively engaged in promoting peace and lowering tensions in the region, according to Senator Sherry Rehman, a senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party and a member of Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation visiting the United Kingdom. In an interview with Sky News, Rehman emphasized that while Pakistan does not wish for regional conflicts to escalate into crises, its pursuit of peace should not be perceived as weakness.

Rehman outlined the purpose of the diplomatic visits to the United States and the United Kingdom as an effort to ensure that the facts of regional tensions are accurately conveyed to the international community. She reiterated Pakistan’s sincere commitment to peace and expressed concern over recent tensions with India, which she described as unnecessary and unprovoked.

The senator criticized certain Indian media outlets for disseminating misinformation and escalating tensions in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationalist agenda. She asserted that these actions have propagated false reports and contributed to the conflict narrative.

Rehman also highlighted Pakistan’s active engagement in counter-terrorism efforts, noting that the country faces one of the highest numbers of terrorist attacks globally. This commitment to combating terrorism, she suggested, underscores Pakistan’s dedication to regional stability and peace.
