Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar of Pakistan is set to attend an extraordinary session of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul, Türkiye. The meeting, convened by Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, will focus on the escalating situation in Gaza and discuss international measures to achieve an urgent ceasefire.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the gathering will address the collective responsibility of the international community to halt the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The Deputy Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s position, advocating for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, the lifting of the siege, and substantial humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people. Dar will emphasize the need for a unified global effort to end what he describes as the genocide in Gaza and the war crimes committed by Israeli forces.
In addition to the council meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Dar is expected to hold bilateral talks with his counterparts from the D-8 member countries, which include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye. These discussions aim to bolster international cooperation and formulate a cohesive response to the crisis in Gaza.
