Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Calls for Ceasefire and Accountability at OIC Meeting in Jeddah

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan at the Open-Ended Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The meeting addressed concerns over Israeli actions in Gaza and the broader Middle East, focusing on the impact on Palestine.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was prompted by requests from the State of Palestine and the Islamic Republic of Iran to address the escalation of conflicts. Senator Dar condemned the actions against Palestinian people and advocated for immediate de-escalation, a permanent ceasefire, and humanitarian aid to those affected. He also emphasized the need for accountability for what he described as war crimes by Israeli authorities and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a sovereign Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
