Rawalpindi: A seminar focused on identifying challenges related to defence exports convened at Heavy Industries Taxila, organized by Directorate General Munitions Production (DGMP) under the Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP). The event was attended by Defence Industrial Partners, Exporters, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Production, who was the Chief Guest.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, Rear Admiral Mian Zakir Ullah Jan, Director General Munitions Production, presented on the potential of the country’s defence sector in the global market. The seminar included keynote speeches from selected participants in public and private defence industries and academia.
During an interactive session, attendees discussed challenges, sought clarifications, and proposed policy initiatives to enhance defence production and exports. Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Chiragh Haider, Secretary Defence Production, emphasized the aim of achieving self-reliance in critical fields within Pakistan’s Defence Industry.
He highlighted the sector’s role in strengthening conventional defence and contributing to the national economy. The Secretary noted that Pakistan’s defence production sector, comprising both public and private entities, has demonstrated the capability to meet the needs of the Armed Forces and foreign customers.
The Secretary emphasized the Ministry’s efforts towards a self-reliant, sustainable defence production industry aimed at increasing job opportunities, generating revenue, reducing import dependence, and boosting exports for foreign exchange earnings. Participants expressed appreciation for the seminar and assured their commitment to achieving the sector’s goals with governmental support and facilitation.
