Pakistan’s Defence Committee Commends Local Production Efforts


Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production convened on September 30, 2024, to review and commend the Ministry of Defence Production’s advances in the indigenous manufacturing of defense equipment. This in-camera session, the second of its kind, highlighted the substantial progress in fortifying Pakistan’s defense capabilities through local production initiatives.



According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting, chaired by Mr. Javaid Iqbal, MNA, included a detailed briefing from the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Production. The briefing covered the Ministry’s organizational structure, its role under the Rules of Business 1973, and its key responsibilities. The committee members unanimously expressed their support for the Ministry’s efforts, recognizing the strategic importance of self-reliance in defense manufacturing.



The session was marked by a collective resolution from the committee members to back the Ministry in its ongoing projects to enhance the national defense infrastructure. The assembly reflected a robust commitment to national security, underpinning the importance of developing and sustaining local defense production capabilities.



The meeting was attended by numerous members of the National Assembly, including Sardar Ghulam Abbas, Mr. Nadeem Abbas, and Ms. Nuzhat Sadiq, among others. Senior officers from the Ministry of Defence Production and its attached departments were also present, underscoring the collaborative effort between policymakers and defense authorities to bolster Pakistan’s defense readiness.
