Pakistan’s Commitment to Eradicating Blood Disorders: Minister Shah Outlines Steps on World Hemophilia Day


Islamabad: On World Hemophilia Day, Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Sayed Imran Ahmed Shah, highlighted the government’s commitment to tackling inherited blood disorders like hemophilia and thalassemia during a visit to a collaborative Thalassemia Centre in Islamabad.



Addressing stakeholders and attendees, Minister Shah emphasized the government’s collaboration with welfare organizations to enhance healthcare support for these conditions. He praised the partnership between Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and Sundas Foundation as a replicable model offering comprehensive services to patients, including medical care and educational support.



Minister Shah proposed expanding this model to other cities, suggesting a new thalassemia center at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital through a public-private partnership. He noted that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has provided substantial financial aid to patients over the past five years, underscoring the government’s ongoing support.



The Minister stressed the need for nationwide awareness and scientific research to eliminate blood disorders, urging media and civil society to aid in public education and early diagnosis. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to advance public health initiatives and called for a collective effort to combat these diseases for the nation’s future.
