Addis Ababa: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce arrived at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport today, heading a high-level trade delegation to engage in the 5th Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition. The events, which aim to strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and African nations, will take place from October 16 to 18 in Ethiopia.
The Minister was welcomed by Ethiopian officials, including H.E. Mr. Burhanu Tsegeye, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Abdul Hakim Mulu, Minister of State for Trade and Regional Integration. Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Diwano Kedir, Ambassador Jamal Baker, and officials from the Pakistan Embassy were also present to greet the delegation.
The conference and exhibition are organized by Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan. They serve as a key component of Pakistan’s “Look Africa Policy,” which seeks to diversify export markets and strengthen economic partnerships across the African continent.
Over 110 Pakistani companies from various sectors, including textiles, pharmaceuticals, engineering, IT, agriculture, and food processing, are participating in the exhibition. These companies aim to showcase Pakistan’s industrial capacity and potential for export growth.
During his visit, the Minister for Commerce will hold bilateral meetings with Ethiopian counterparts, government officials, and business leaders. These discussions are intended to explore opportunities for increased trade cooperation and investment.
The event highlights Pakistan’s commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships in Africa through trade diplomacy and fostering inclusive economic growth.
