Pakistan’s Ambassador Hashmi Honors Sino-Pak Friendship at Great Wall Exhibition

Beijing: At a significant cultural event held today, Ambassador of Pakistan, Mr. Khalil Hashmi, participated in the inauguration of an exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of the slogan “Love Our China, Repair the Great Wall.” The exhibition, hosted at the Badaling section of the Great Wall near Beijing, highlighted the deep-rooted ties and mutual respect between Pakistan and China.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Hashmi delivered a poignant speech at the ceremony, reflecting on the Great Wall’s enduring symbolism in Chinese culture as an icon of resilience and strength. He recalled a notable instance from 1989 when Pakistan contributed to the restoration of a section of this historical monument, underscoring the robust and “iron-clad” friendship between the two nations.

Drawing parallels between the Great Wall and significant archaeological sites in Pakistan, such as the ancient city of Taxila and the Indus Valley Civilization, Ambassador Hashmi emphasized the shared historical and cultural heritage that further cements the bond between Pakistan and China. He remarked on the friendship between the two countries as comparable to the Great Wall—strong, unbreakable, and enduring.

Ambassador Hashmi also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to broadening cooperation with China across various sectors including trade, infrastructure development, and cultural exchanges, aiming to build on the solid foundation of their bilateral relations.

The event was well-attended by notable Chinese scholars and leaders, including Mr. Bian Jinping, a member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The speakers highlighted the Great Wall’s global symbolism of resilience and innovation and commended Pakistan’s efforts in its preservation.
