Pakistan’s Ambassador Emphasizes Government’s Commitment to Girls’ Education

Islamabad, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, stated today that the Government of Pakistan places the utmost importance on the education sector, particularly girls’ education. In a conversation with Executive Director of the Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education (PAGE) Fajer Pasha in Washington, Ambassador Khan affirmed the government’s intent to bolster educational efforts, especially in remote areas of the country.

According to a news release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, The Ambassador’s remarks came as PAGE received an honour from the Library of Congress USA, being recognized as Successful Practices Honorees in the 2023 Literacy Awards Program. During the meeting at the Chancery, Ambassador Khan expressed his appreciation to Ms. Pasha and the entire PAGE team for their significant role in advancing literacy in Pakistan. Emphasizing the opportunities available for Pakistani girls in the US, Khan urged Ms. Pasha to amplify awareness. Citing the continued US government support for Pakistan’s educational sector, Khan noted an uptick in Pakistani students seeking education in the US, with an increase of 17% compared to the previous year. Concluding the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his ongoing support for PAGE and its mission.
