Washington: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peace while asserting the nation’s readiness to defend itself if provoked. In an interview with ABC News, Ambassador Sheikh stated that Pakistan has consistently demonstrated responsibility and restraint in its diplomatic and military actions.

He noted that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be misconstrued as a sign of weakness. The Ambassador was clear that any attack on Pakistani territory would be met with a robust response, highlighting the potential risks if tensions escalate between nuclear-armed neighbors.

Addressing the recent Pahalgam incident, Ambassador Sheikh criticized India for failing to provide evidence to Pakistan or the international community. He accused India of attempting to deflect from its internal challenges by attributing blame to Pakistan.

Furthermore, Ambassador Sheikh pointed to the heavy military presence in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir as a point of concern. He suggested that the deployment of seven hundred thousand troops without achieving peace should prompt India to reconsider its strategy.

The Ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s significant contributions to global counterterrorism efforts, framing the nation as a key player in maintaining regional stability.
