Pakistanis Show Strong Confidence in Government Environmental Actions, Survey Finds

Islamabad: A recent survey conducted by the WIN Worldviews Survey 2026 reveals that a significant majority of Pakistanis, 68%, believe their governments are effectively addressing environmental concerns, a sentiment that stands well above the global average of 46%.

According to Gilani Research Foundation, the survey indicates that both Pakistani men and women share nearly identical views on government environmental action, with 68% of women and 67% of men expressing agreement. The survey highlights a stark contrast between Pakistan’s perception and the global perspective, where opinions are more divided, with 49% of people worldwide disagreeing with the notion that governments are taking necessary actions for the environment.

The survey, conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, involved a representative sample of 1,000 adults across Pakistan, utilizing telephonic surveys. The results show that 26% of Pakistanis totally agree and 42% somewhat agree with the statement that governments are taking adequate environmental measures. Conversely, 30% expressed disagreement, while 2% remained undecided.

Internationally, the survey places Pakistan alongside India with a 68% agreement rate, yet well ahead of countries like the Philippines and South Korea. Vietnam leads globally with a 97% agreement rate, while several Western nations report lower levels of confidence in government actions.

The survey’s findings underscore a substantial gender consensus within Pakistan, reflecting a unified public confidence in governmental efforts to tackle environmental issues, despite varying international perceptions.
