Islamabad, A delegation of eight Pakistani undergraduate students is set to visit Japan from March 5 to 12, 2024, on an invitation from the Government of Japan, as part of the JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) program. This initiative aims to foster mutual understanding and trust among the youth of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, with a special emphasis on environmental themes.
According to Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, the group, comprising students from Islamabad and Karachi, will join a total of 49 youths from SAARC countries participating in this year’s program. The visit is designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of Japan’s societal, economic, historical, political, and diplomatic dimensions. Participants will engage in lectures and visits that highlight Japan’s cultural diversity and its advancements in environmental preservation.
A pre-departure orientation was conducted by the Embassy of Japan, where Mr. Kazumasa Takane, Counsellor and Head of Public Affairs, interacted with the students. He encouraged them to maximize this unique learning opportunity, suggesting that the experience could be transformative. Mr. Takane shared his observations of Pakistani youth’s eagerness to learn about Japan and expressed hope that such exchanges would enhance bilateral ties and mutual understanding between the two nations.
The JENESYS program represents an ongoing effort by the Japanese government to bring together students from SAARC countries and Japan, promoting cultural exchange and capacity building. This initiative is seen as a vital step towards nurturing future leaders who are well-versed in international relations and environmental issues.
