Pakistani Prime Minister Commends Norway’s Recognition of Palestine in Call with Norwegian Counterpart


Lahore, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan expressed his deep appreciation for Norway’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine during a phone conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.



According to Press Information Department, Sharif highlighted the move as a significant gesture of solidarity toward the Palestinian people and stressed the importance of the two-state solution for peace in the Middle East.



During the call, Sharif lauded the International Court of Justice’s recent ruling on Rafah and Gaza, urging for its thorough implementation. He expressed hope that Norway’s stance would inspire other nations to support Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations. The discussion also touched on the situation in Kashmir, drawing parallels to the Palestinian plight. Both leaders committed to enhancing bilateral relations across multiple sectors, including trade, education, and renewable energy, and acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistani-Norwegian community in fostering strong ties between the two countries. Plans for future meetings and a proposed official visit by Prime Minister Store to Pakistan were also discussed.
