Dhaka: General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, has embarked on an official visit to Bangladesh, engaging in high-level discussions with several key figures in the Bangladeshi government and military. The meetings underscored the mutual desire to enhance bilateral defense and security cooperation between the two nations.
During his visit, General Mirza met with H.E. Mr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, the Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, the Chief of Air Staff, and Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh.
The discussions with Bangladeshi leaders focused on the evolving global and regional security environment. Both parties acknowledged the importance of strengthening defense ties and expressed optimism about enhancing military collaborations. General Mirza emphasized Pakistan’s appreciation for its long-standing ties with Bangladesh and highlighted the shared commitment to deepening these relations based on sovereign equality and mutual respect.
In addition to the meetings, General Mirza visited the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty and students. The Bangladeshi civil-military leadership lauded the professional standards of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their contributions to combating terrorism.
Upon his arrival at Senakunjo, General Mirza was honored with a ‘Guard of Honour’ by a military contingent and laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban, further symbolizing the respect and camaraderie shared between the two countries.
