Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have emphasized the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute to ensure global peace and security. Their statements were part of the messages delivered on the International Day of Peace, where they expressed readiness to cooperate internationally to foster a peaceful and inclusive world.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari highlighted the critical need for peace for sustainable progress and development, citing the adverse impacts of wars and conflicts on human suffering. He condemned the actions of Israel in Palestine and the Hindutva-driven policies of the Modi regime in India, which he said were exacerbating global tensions and violating human rights. The President called these actions threats to worldwide peace and security.
In a similar vein, Prime Minister Sharif advocated for dialogue and peace in the region, pointing out that the resolution of the Kashmir issue through a fair and impartial plebiscite, as per UN resolutions, is essential. He also brought attention to the struggles of the Palestinian people, underlining the urgency for a peaceful settlement in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Palestinian community.
