Islamabad: The President and Prime Minister of Pakistan urged the global community to intervene and put an end to the ongoing violence in Gaza during the All Parties Conference held at the President House in Islamabad. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the dire need for international action to halt Israeli aggression that has resulted in significant Palestinian casualties and continued unrest in the region.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Asif Ali Zardari, in his opening speech at the conference, highlighted the severe impact of the prolonged conflict, noting that over forty thousand Palestinians have lost their lives since the escalation began a year ago. He condemned the actions of Israel, including the assassination of top Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, and criticized the international community for its failure to respond effectively to the crisis.
President Zardari called for immediate international intervention to de-escalate the situation and prevent further loss of life. He stressed the importance of upholding peace and security in the region, safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty, and addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The President reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for the rights of Palestinians and Lebanese at all regional and international forums.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed the President’s sentiments, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He emphasized the urgency of stopping the bloodshed and described the oppression faced by Palestinians as severe. The Prime Minister announced the formation of a working group of experts tasked with raising international awareness of the Palestinian plight.
The conference also heard from other key political figures, including PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, who criticized the global silence on the issue and praised the Prime Minister’s efforts at the United Nations General Assembly. JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman reported that fifty thousand Palestinians had been martyred and called for immediate practical support for the Palestinian cause.
The leaders proposed various measures, including forming a joint platform of Muslim countries to address the crisis, intensifying diplomatic campaigns, and utilizing media to expose Israel’s actions. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari advocated for a high-power committee to unify national efforts in supporting Palestine.
The conference united multiple political parties and leaders who collectively called for an end to the violence in Gaza and stressed the need for a cohesive international and Islamic response to the crisis.
