Pakistani Information Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Transparent Elections

Islamabad, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in conducting free, transparent, and impartial elections. In a media interaction in Islamabad on Tuesday, he emphasized the ECP’s constitutional mandate to ensure fair electoral processes.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Solangi underscored that the ECP’s role in holding free, fair, and transparent elections is fundamental and aligns with Article 218 (3) of the Constitution. He reiterated that all citizens in Pakistan, including political parties, have the right to freedom of expression, complaint, and criticism.

The Minister also touched upon the freedom enjoyed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and other political entities, stating that the same liberties are available to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), including the right to lodge complaints.

Addressing the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, Solangi mentioned that the Premier informed the public about his trip through a video message. On a personal note, Solangi expressed his respect for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former President Asif Ali Zardari, indicating that he refrains from commenting on their statements due to their relationship.
