Pakistani Information Minister Calls for Responsible Election Reporting by Media

ISLAMABAD, The Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, has called on media professionals to ensure responsible reporting during the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of maintaining neutrality and not aligning with any political party.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while addressing an event organized by the journalist’s community in Islamabad, Solangi stressed the caretaker government’s duty to conduct elections that are free, fair, and transparent. He clarified that the government does not favor any political party in the electoral race.

The Minister highlighted that the delimitation process is nearing completion and urged the media to focus on the real issues affecting the general public, assisting them in making informed decisions in the elections.

Solangi also addressed concerns regarding unfair treatment of journalists by some media owners. He encouraged journalists facing such issues to file formal complaints, assuring that the government would take appropriate actions in these matters.

Regarding the murder case of Jan Muhammad Meher, Solangi assured that the federal government, in collaboration with the provincial administration, is committed to apprehending the perpetrators.

PFUJ President Afzal Butt, speaking at the event, echoed the sentiment that the upcoming elections would be transparent, and cautioned the media against misleading the public.
