Pakistani Federal Minister Visits Canada to Bolster Support for Kashmir


Ottawa: The Pakistan High Commission in Canada hosted Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engr. Amir Muqam, marking a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at fortifying ties with the Kashmiri diaspora and advocating for the Kashmir cause. During his visit, Engr. Muqam, accompanied by key community members, emphasized Pakistan’s consistent support for Kashmir and highlighted the diaspora’s role in both nations’ development.



According to Press Information Department, the event was especially poignant as it coincided with the third anniversary of Syed Ali Gilani, a prominent Kashmiri leader. The Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Canada, Mr. Shah Faisal Kakar, underlined the importance of the visit in strengthening the connection between the Pakistani community in Canada and their homeland, particularly in support of the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination. The ceremony also paid homage to Gilani, recognizing his lifelong dedication to the Kashmiri cause.



Mr. Kakar expressed confidence that the Minister’s presence would inspire the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities in Canada. He stressed the ongoing need for international support to resolve the conflicts in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Furthermore, Engr. Muqam acknowledged the significant contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada, noting their pivotal role in the socio-economic spheres of both Canada and Pakistan.



This visit underscores the deep ties between Pakistan and its diaspora in Canada, reaffirming a mutual commitment to advocate for the Kashmiri people’s rights and aspirations on an international stage.
