Pakistani Delegations to Visit Key Capitals Amid Rising Tensions

Islamabad: Pursuant to the Prime Minister’s directive, a high-level multiparty delegation from Pakistan will visit New York, Washington DC, London, and Brussels starting June 2, 2025. This initiative aims to address the recent escalation in tensions with India and to promote dialogue and diplomacy over conflict.

The nine-member delegation is led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party and former Foreign Minister. Other notable members include Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, and Senator Sherry Rehman, Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination.

Also part of the delegation are Hina Rabbani Khar, Chairperson of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, a former Minister for Commerce, Defence, and Foreign Affairs. Senator Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari and Senator Bushra Anjum Butt will join them, along with former Foreign Secretaries Ambassador (R) Jalil Abbas Jilani and Ambassador (R) Tehmina Janjua.

In a parallel effort, a separate delegation led by Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, will visit Moscow, also beginning on June 2, 2025.

The primary objective of these visits is to present Pakistan’s perspective on the recent Indian aggression. The delegations will emphasize Pakistan’s commitment to peace and its restrained conduct in response to India’s actions, which they claim violate international law.

The delegations are tasked with urging the international community to engage more actively in fostering peace in South Asia. They will also advocate for the immediate resumption of the normal functioning of the Indus Waters Treaty.

During their visits, the delegations will hold meetings with international leaders, public officials, senior officials, parliamentarians, think tanks, media representatives, and the diaspora to further their agenda for peace and dialogue.
