Pakistani and Polish Ministers Discuss Enhanced Security and Economic Cooperation


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry met with Polish Minister Tomasz Siemoniak to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, focusing on security cooperation and expanding economic ties between Pakistan and Poland.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in areas such as security, intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism, illegal migration, and collaboration between law enforcement agencies. Both sides agreed on the importance of finalizing various Memoranda of Understanding, including those related to Mutual Legal Assistance, and discussed the upcoming visit of a Pakistani delegation led by Talal Chaudhry to Poland to further solidify ties.



The discussions also touched upon expanding employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Europe to help curb illegal migration and explored the potential for introducing a visa-free facility for holders of official passports from both countries. Interior Minister Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs, illegal migration, and organized crime, which has led to a significant decline in illegal migration to Europe. Polish Minister Siemoniak assured full cooperation, underscoring the shared stance on counter-terrorism and the significance of economic relations alongside political and security ties.



Minister Naqvi expressed gratitude to Poland for its support regarding the European Union’s GSP Plus scheme, while Minister Siemoniak reiterated Poland’s backing of Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability. The meeting was attended by the Secretary Interior and other senior officials.
