Pakistani Ambassador Masood Khan Advocates for Health Tourism and IT Investment at APPNA Meeting in Chicago

Chicago, Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, called for increased investment in health tourism and information technology by Pakistani-American physicians during the Spring meeting of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA). The Ambassador emphasized the importance of the diaspora’s contributions to both the U.S. and Pakistan, particularly in healthcare and technology sectors.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Khan addressed a gathering of over 570 attendees, including healthcare professionals and community leaders. He commended APPNA’s role in enhancing Pakistan’s image through dedicated service and urged the community to explore opportunities in health tourism, akin to models in Turkey, and to expand their investments in the burgeoning IT sector in Pakistan.

Ambassador Khan highlighted the strategic health dialogues with the U.S., including significant collaborations with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to establish a similar entity in Pakistan. These talks have led to pivotal decisions aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation in healthcare, focusing on combating non-communicable diseases and reducing child and maternal mortality.

The Ambassador’s speech also touched on the regional political situation, calling for the recognition of Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the need for multiple humanitarian corridors in conflict zones. His comments were part of broader discussions on the role of the Pakistani diaspora in the U.S., which he described as a robust and resilient bond that serves as an asset to both nations.
