Pakistani Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Reaffirms Support for Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination


Islamabad: Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s envoy to France, reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination during a webinar on Youm-e-Istehsal, which marks five years since India’s contentious actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized the need for concerted efforts across political, diplomatic, legal, and human rights arenas to effectively advocate for the Kashmir cause. He highlighted the critical role of the diaspora in enhancing international outreach and support for Kashmir.



The Ambassador underscored that a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the desires of the Kashmiri people, is crucial for regional peace and stability. He also urged the UN Security Council to take active steps to ensure the implementation of its resolutions regarding Kashmir.



Ambassador Ahmad strongly condemned India’s actions on August 5, 2019, labeling them as illegal and a violation of human rights. He called on the international community to act decisively to end the oppression faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule and to support their right to self-determination and freedom.
