Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Tuesday that Pakistan reserves the right to respond to missile strikes allegedly conducted by India, which targeted five locations within Pakistan.
In a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif condemned the attacks, describing them as a “cowardly” act of aggression. “The enemy has carried out a cowardly attack at five locations in Pakistan, and we are ready to give a befitting response to this act of war imposed on us,” the statement read.
The strikes reportedly resulted in the death of a child and injuries to two other individuals, including a woman. Security sources indicated that the attacks were executed by Indian aircraft from within Indian airspace, targeting areas in Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Ahmad Pur Sharqia, and Muridke.
Sharif emphasized the solidarity and readiness of the Pakistani nation and its armed forces to confront the situation. “Our nation and armed forces are undeterred to deal with the enemy,” he asserted.
He further stated that Pakistan would not permit its adversary to achieve its objectives. “Pakistan will not allow its enemy to succeed in its nefarious objectives,” Sharif added.
The incident marks a significant escalation in tensions between the two neighboring countries, with potential implications for regional stability. Both nations have a history of conflict and have been involved in previous military confrontations.
