Pakistan wants peace and stability in Afghanistan: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi

Islamabad, June 22, 2021 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan wants peace and stability in Afghanistan and has always played its role at different world fora for reconciliation and politically negotiated settlement of the issue. Talking to the media during his visit to National Institute of Health, the foreign minister said about 44 foreign ministers and heads of governments from different countries had acknowledged Pakistan’s role for peaceful resolution of the Afghan issue at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.

He said Pakistan’s interests are linked with Afghanistan as an immediate neighbour, however, Afghans have to take the decision about their future. He said with peace and stability, the shared objectives of connectivity and economic cooperation could be met. The Foreign Minister said in his interaction with his Afghan counterpart, he emphasized that trust is must to resolve the issue as Pakistan is a shared partner in the peace process.
