Pakistan Vows Support for Stability in Afghanistan at UN Meeting

New York: Pakistan has pledged to take an active role in supporting Afghanistan’s pursuit of peace and stability, as outlined by Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during a UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan.

In his address, Ahmad emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering economic stability in Afghanistan, including efforts to revive its banking system and find solutions to unfreeze Afghan financial assets.

He highlighted the ongoing security concerns, pointing out that terrorism originating from Afghanistan poses a significant threat to neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan.

Ahmad also provided evidence of potential collaborations between groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and the Majeed Brigade. These groups, he noted, are allegedly working together to disrupt strategic infrastructure and economic development projects in Pakistan.

The meeting underscored the complex security dynamics in the region and Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability.
