Pakistan Volleyball Federation Launches Regional Talent Hunt to Boost National Team

Quetta: In a significant move to bolster national sports, the Chairman of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqub, announced the launch of a regional talent hunt program aimed at scouting and nurturing volleyball players from the grassroots level. The initiative is set to include 20 players from each region who will undergo training in regional camps, followed by inter-region competitions to select candidates for the national team training camp.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the announcement came during a meeting with the Pakistan Sports Journalists Federation delegation, which included figures such as Muhammad Iqbal Harper, Muhammad Babar, and Abdul Qayyum. Chairman Yaqub highlighted the federation’s efforts in enhancing the capabilities of Pakistani coaches by providing them with international quality facilities and a panel of eight qualified coaches. Additionally, video analysts, proficient in IT and higher education, have been employed to monitor and report on each player’s performance, enabling tailored training and guidance.

Chairman Yaqub also mentioned the financial aspects of the training programs, stating that current expenditures were covered by sponsors. However, he emphasized the need for financial assistance from the Pakistan Sports Board for training camps, accommodations, meals, and international travel expenses for the players. Such support would significantly aid in elevating the standard of volleyball in Pakistan.
