Pakistan, US Near Agreement on Employment of Pakistani Nurses in New York

Islamabad: In a significant development, Pakistan and the United States are close to finalizing a procedure for the employment of qualified Pakistani nurses in New York. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly Phil Ramos.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, deputy Speaker Ramos highlighted the shortage of qualified nurses in the US and acknowledged Pakistan’s potential to meet this demand. Interior Minister Naqvi emphasized the urgency of implementing measures to facilitate the employment of Pakistani nurses in New York. He also noted the broader potential for collaboration between the two nations in education, health, and economic development.

Further enhancing bilateral cooperation, Minister Naqvi mentioned his recent discussions in New York, which included talks with the New York Police Department aimed at increasing cooperation between the NYPD and Islamabad Police. A visit by a delegation from Islamabad Police to New York is planned soon, signaling a deepening of ties across multiple sectors.
