Islamabad, July 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):At the United Nations, Pakistan has urged the world community to unitedly combat the rising poverty and hunger through measures like social protection and relief programmes. These views were expressed by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, in his closing address to the event of commemoration of 75th anniversary of Economic and Social Council.
Munir Akram said scaled-up investment in sustainable infrastructure with an estimated requirement of on trillion dollars per year, is essential for transition to a dynamic ‘green’ global economy. He also stressed the need for action plans for job creation in sectors such as construction, renewable energy, transport and housing. The event took place as Pakistan’s Presidency of the Council is coming to an end.
