Pakistan Urges UN to Address Kashmir Dispute According to Resolutions

United Nations: Pakistan has called on the United Nations to take decisive action to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute, emphasizing adherence to existing UN resolutions as a pathway to regional peace.

During a recent debate at the UN Security Council, Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, highlighted the unfulfilled promise of self-determination for the people of Kashmir. Fatemi noted that despite the passage of several years, this promise remains unkept.

Fatemi asserted that the responsibility lies with the Security Council to ensure that the rights of the Kashmiri people are recognized and upheld. He detailed the ongoing challenges faced by the people in India-Occupied Kashmir, citing instances of cruelty and suppression by Indian forces.

He further argued that sustainable peace in the region is contingent upon addressing the Kashmir issue in a manner that aligns with the aspirations of its people. This call for action underscores Pakistan’s persistent stance on seeking resolution through international forums.
