NEW YORK: Pakistan has called for the preservation and enhancement of the mandate of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This appeal was made by Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during his address at the UNRWA Pledging Conference held at the UN Headquarters.
According to Radio Pakistan, Jadoon emphasized the need for the international community to ensure that the agency receives adequate and predictable resources to continue its work. He also strongly condemned recent Israeli legislation targeting UNRWA, labeling such measures as illegal under international law, and called for their immediate repeal.
