Pakistan Urges Lifting of U.S. Economic Embargo on Cuba

New York: Pakistan has called for the removal of the long-standing economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba. This appeal was made by Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during a second debate at the UN General Assembly concerning the necessity of ending the embargo.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that lifting the embargo would significantly contribute to improving the humanitarian conditions in Cuba. He stated that such a move would allow the Cuban populace to exercise their right to development and prosperity. Furthermore, it would reinforce the principles of multilateralism and international cooperation, aligning with the broader objectives of the United Nations.
