Islamabad: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, addressed the UN Security Council’s high-level briefing on the Middle East, emphasizing the critical situation in Palestine and calling for immediate international action. Dar highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding diplomatic backing of Palestinian self-determination, stating that the Palestinian population is facing an “unimaginable tragedy,” with extensive loss of life, widespread destruction of property, and crippled infrastructure. He described Gaza as “a graveyard for humanity” and a stain on the global conscience.
The Pakistani representative proposed three critical measures: an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire; unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza and the lifting of the blockade; and a definitive halt to any forced displacement of Palestinians, while upholding their right of return and establishing an international protection system.
Dar urged the UN Security Council and the global community to take decisive action, ensure accountability, and deliver justice. He stressed the urgency of the situation, declaring that the time for discussion is over and the time for action is now.
