Pakistan urges global community to acknowledge ground realities in Afghanistan

Islamabad, September 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Munir Akram has urged international community especially neighbouring countries to acknowledge the new ground realities in Afghanistan and continue support to Afghan efforts to form an inclusive government. In his article published in American magazine Newsweek, he said the Afghans must be encouraged to evolve their own political arrangements.

Munir Akram said history bears testimony that external solutions cannot be imposed on the Afghan people. He said peace and stability in Afghanistan is contingent upon a roadmap that must consist of three elements; urgent humanitarian assistance to Afghan people, formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan and the development of a comprehensive plan of action to neutralize the threat posed by terrorism flowing from Afghanistan to its neighbours or other countries.
