Pakistan Unveils National Intellectual Property Strategy to Foster Innovation


Islamabad: The Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO-Pakistan), in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), has successfully concluded consultative sessions aimed at developing Pakistan’s National Intellectual Property Strategy. The initiative seeks to promote a culture of innovation and respect for intellectual property rights in Pakistan.



According to Press Information Department, the two-day sessions featured discussions on key areas, including challenges and recommendations for the National Intellectual Property Strategy, its impact on Pakistan’s geo-economic situation, and the way forward for strategy development. Ambassador Farukh Amil, Chairman of IPO-Pakistan, underscored the importance of integrating intellectual property education into industries and academia, focusing on youth engagement to foster innovation.



The sessions were attended by experts and stakeholders who provided insights and recommendations. David Simmions, Counsellor for the Division for Asia and Pacific at WIPO, presented on WIPO’s role in supporting the implementation of national IP strategies. The initiative marks a step toward a knowledge-based economy in Pakistan and aims to position the country as a hub for innovation and excellence.
