Islamabad: The inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) was held today, marking a significant step towards enhancing the parliamentary oversight and understanding of the bilateral relations, trade, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UK.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the session was chaired by Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, MNA and convener of the Pakistan-UK PFG. Attendees included prominent MNAs such as Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Syed Amin Ul Haque, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Mallani, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Syed Ali Musa Gilani, and Dr. Nelson Azeem, who were briefed on the current state of diplomatic relations and economic ties between the two nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided insights into ongoing diplomatic initiatives and regional cooperation projects, while the Ministry of Commerce discussed bilateral trade, the development of Special Economic Zones, and investment opportunities aimed at boosting economic cooperation.
Mr. Kayani emphasized the critical role of the Pakistan-UK PFG in promoting mutual understanding, cooperation, and friendship, underscoring the group’s potential to foster stronger parliamentary ties and explore new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to maintaining regular interactions to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the UK.
