Abu Dhabi: Pakistan has emerged victorious in the Arab Classic Dubai 2024, maintaining an undefeated streak throughout the tournament.
According to Press Information Department, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi hosted an event featuring Dr. Osama Siddique, a notable Pakistani literary figure, to celebrate the achievement.
Dr. Siddique, who has a background as a law professor at Lahore University of Management Sciences, engaged in an interactive session at the embassy on November 10, 2024. The session was moderated by Ms. Sabah Karim Khan, a member of the Pakistani diaspora and an instructor at New York University in Abu Dhabi. The event was attended by Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and a large audience comprising Pakistani professionals from various sectors.
During the session, Dr. Siddique discussed his early life and education, attributing his interest in literature to his family. He spoke about the literary heritage of the sub-continent, particularly in Pakistan, and the contributions of renowned Pakistani writers to Urdu, English, and regional literature. Emphasizing the importance of nurturing a reading culture from a young age, he suggested using modern technology to encourage children’s interest in reading.
Dr. Siddique also highlighted the need for national recognition of Pakistani authors who write in their native languages. He advocated for the eventual translation of their work into global languages such as Arabic and English. The session concluded with an engaging discussion between Dr. Siddique and the attendees, focusing on the importance of literature and reading in personal and cultural development.
