Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will lead the observance of Palestine Solidarity Day on Monday with nationwide rallies and seminars planned to express support for Palestinians and condemn Israeli actions in Gaza. The event follows a resolution from a meeting held in Islamabad, which included key political figures and parties discussing the ongoing situation in Palestine.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the decision was taken during a meeting on Friday with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and a delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami led by Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman. The meeting also saw the formation of a committee to oversee the activities of the Palestine Solidarity Day and the scheduled All Parties Conference. This committee includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Sherry Rehman, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Nayyar Bukhari.
The day will feature events across Pakistan aimed at raising awareness and showing solidarity with the Palestinian cause. The activities are expected to include discussions on the plight of Palestinians and the promotion of peace initiatives. Both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif are set to participate in the All Parties Conference, highlighting the significance of the day to Pakistan’s foreign policy and its stance on global humanitarian issues.
The Prime Minister’s recent activities at the United Nations General Assembly, where he vocally opposed Israeli actions and the subsequent walkout during the Israeli Prime Minister’s speech, were highlighted during the meeting as symbolic of Pakistan’s firm stance on the matter.
