Pakistan to Mark May 9 as Black Day Following Political Violence

Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar declared that May 9 will be commemorated as a Black Day in Pakistan’s history, reflecting on last year’s violent incidents which he attributed to a politically motivated conspiracy against the state.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Tarar addressed these concerns at a news conference in Islamabad, where he accused a political group of orchestrating the attacks that compromised Pakistan’s security and development. He mentioned that there is compelling evidence against those involved and called for expedited legal actions.

The Minister also criticized the desecration of national monuments and attacks on key state institutions, including the Jinnah House in Lahore, emphasizing the government’s resolution to prevent such acts in the future. He urged the youth to remain vigilant against those inciting instability and highlighted the importance of unity for the nation’s progress.

A special Federal Cabinet meeting has been scheduled for the following day, which will include leaders from various political parties and will address strategies to prevent future incidents of this nature. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also set to speak at a special event at the Convention Centre, further discussing the implications of the May 9 incidents.
