Islamabad: Romina Khurshid Alam, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, has announced the upcoming launch of Pakistan’s first Green-Tech Hub (G-TH). This initiative aims to revolutionize the country’s energy landscape by promoting green technologies and reducing carbon emissions. The announcement was made during a webinar titled ‘Creation of G-TH,’ organized by Paklaunch.com in partnership with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination.
According to Press Information Department, the G-TH is designed to be a cutting-edge facility that will foster innovation in renewable energy solutions and eco-friendly technologies. This hub is supported by the Government of Pakistan, along with private sector stakeholders, academic institutions, and international green technology leaders, positioning Pakistan as a regional leader in sustainable innovation. The G-TH will also feature at the Pakistan Pavilion during the upcoming COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, starting November 11, where Pakistan aims to showcase its innovative and impactful projects to attract global and local investors.
During the webinar, Romina Khurshid Alam emphasized that the G-TH would serve as a strategic connector, linking Pakistani innovators with global investors to leverage climate finance for showcased projects at COP29. She highlighted that the hub would act as an incubator for green startups, a research center for advanced technologies, and a collaboration space for innovators focused on environmental challenges.
Secretary of the Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Ministry, Aisha Humera Ch., added that the G-TH is crucial for technology transfer and technical know-how, which are essential for promoting green energy use in Pakistan. She expressed hope that the G-TH would help create a narrative of Pakistan as a country of problem solvers and attract investment in green technology. The secretary also noted that the G-TH would work closely with local industries, universities, and international environmental organizations to accelerate the development and deployment of eco-friendly solutions.
The G-TH is expected to be a world-class innovation center equipped with research labs, testing centers, co-working spaces, and conference rooms to facilitate collaboration and innovation in green technologies. This initiative represents a significant step forward in Pakistan’s commitment to combating climate change and advancing towards a sustainable and resilient future.
