Islamabad, Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, has announced the launch of a new ‘Contract Base Smartphones Policy’ set to be implemented from January 15th. In a discussion with a private channel, Dr. Saif outlined the policy’s features and its potential benefits to the economy and consumers.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, under this policy, individuals traveling abroad will have access to the latest model smartphones through easy installment plans. This initiative aims to promote responsible financial behavior and further expand smartphone accessibility in the country.
Addressing another significant development, Dr. Saif revealed that the IT Ministry is introducing ‘Standardized Quality Measurement Tests’ across universities in Pakistan. The objective is to ensure that fresh graduates have ample job opportunities. The Minister elaborated on the program, stating that approximately 20,000 to 25,000 students nationwide who pass these tests will be offered job placements through the Industry Placement Program.
The announcement marks a significant step towards enhancing digital connectivity and education standards in the country, reflecting the caretaker government’s commitment to advancing technological accessibility and academic excellence.
