Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani addressed members of the Senate on Saturday, underscoring the importance of the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), which is set to take place in Islamabad on November 11-12, 2025. The event, focusing on “Peace, Security, and Development,” marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to promote international dialogue through parliamentary diplomacy.
Chairman Gilani described the conference as a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s parliamentary history, highlighting its role in enhancing the country’s standing on the global stage. The conference will gather an array of international delegates, including ten Speakers of Parliaments, fifteen Deputy Speakers, and thirty-seven Members of Parliaments, along with representatives from various multilateral organizations. The participation of two former Presidents further underscores Pakistan’s growing diplomatic influence.
He emphasized that the ISC is a national endeavor reflecting Pakistan’s vision for peace and inclusive development. Chairman Gilani called upon all Senators to actively engage as hosts and ambassadors, representing the nation’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation across borders.
Expressing gratitude, Chairman Gilani acknowledged the support of key national leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and others, in organizing the conference. He praised Senator Ishaq Dar for his leadership in the preparatory sessions and highlighted the collaborative spirit among the country’s top leadership.
Chairman Gilani also recognized the efforts of various ministries and departments in ensuring the smooth execution of the event. He urged all Senators to contribute constructively to the conference’s success, emphasizing that it is a collective responsibility.
