Pakistan to Host Date Palm Festival in Late 2024


Abu Dhabi, Pakistan will host a Date Palm Festival in the last quarter of 2024, as part of an initiative to enhance its capacity in date palm cultivation, production, and processing technology. This announcement was made following a meeting between Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agriculture Innovation, and Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).



According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE to strengthen Pakistan’s date palm sector. Dr. Zaid reaffirmed the Khalifa Award’s support for developing and strengthening date palm cultivation in Pakistan. Ambassador Tirmizi expressed appreciation for this support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to organizing the festival and implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Pakistan’s Federal Ministry of National Food Security and Research and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agriculture Innovation UAE in February 2024.
